Bore Sight tool
Can anyone recommend a laser bore sight tool for the XD 45 Service, 4.00" barrel. Mostly I've seen them for rifles but not so much for pistols.

I use one of those 'el cheapo' specials like in the link below. A different brand, but I can't imagine them being much different functionality wise. I think I paid like $19.99 for mine (a Remington, maybe?). Anyways, they can be used for any application - from pistols to rifles - just by using various included adapters. The actual barrel rod is set up for small calibers like .17 or .22 and the adapters provide the needed 'leverage' against the tapered body of the boresighter.
This one is $39.99, but I'm sure you can find them way cheaper. Try ebay. Cabela's Laser Boresighting Kit

If the Cabelas unit meets your needs, I would not try to save $10 and buy from an unknown merchant. Cabelas stands behind what they sell 100%, I've bought from them for years.

Since I used one today, actually, I was handed my pistol with one inside the chamber, I can attest that they work very well. I dont know what brand it was. It was brass body with different sized sleeves to fit several different chambers of bore. I had a set of Trijicon night sights installed today at my local Tactical store and the armorer handed me my pistol and said, "Try this out. Sight your pistol on a target and look at the sight picture and the laser dot. "
This allowed him to perfectly bore sight my new sights and sure enough, when the sights were aligned perfectly, the red laser dot was dead center of the front sight post.

Thanks guys for the help. I have a Stream Light w/laser (TLR-02) and want to align it dead nuts with the bore. I was at the indoor range yesterday but trying out the laser it was off. I wanted to adjust the laser there but range time is expensive here. I figure the bore laser is the way to go to sight in the laser on the XD. again thanks for the help. |

This is the one I just got
MidwayUSA - Bushnell Universal Laser Boresighter 22 to 50 Caliber, 20, 12 Gauge They all seem pretty much the same, I chose this one because it came with batteries so it was less of a hassel to get up and running. It works in all of my pistols except the SubCompact, just not enough barrel there to seat it properly. I recommend making sure the laser is facing with the on-off knob straight up once you got it screwed into the bore.

Got mine from Wal-Mart. I used it for my XD45 5" Tactical as well as for my M1A(w/o flash hider). It also helped align my cheapo laser dot.
