Night Sight Performance request
I been following the night site posts for the amount of time I have been a member here at XDTalk. I have finally decided to go ahead and get a set installed on my XD45 Service. I want to make the best choice so I would like to beat the dead horse a bit.
- Which sights did you choose and why? - After some reports of tritium vials breaking on some brands, have you had any issues with your choice (if yours have vials)? - Do you have any holster fitment issues with the sites of your choice? - If you are not satisfied with your choice, what would you do differently next time? - Would you have preferred to forego the sites and just use a laser?

I was going to originally get standard Tritium sites, but my dealer showed me TFOs. They we're much more in price and I understood the benefits of fiber optics from my archery sights. I went with the TFOs.

Not particularly. Perhaps for a house only, but for the carry piece. |

I have factory Trijicons on my XD45 compact.
Trijicon, Inc. : Brilliant Aiming Solutions™ I'm happy with them. I had Trijicons an my Sig P229 and they glowed for over 10 years. I had Meprolights installed on my XD9sc. MEPROLIGHT I can't pinpoint why I don't like them but I don't. I'm having my own dilemma trying to decide if I want Truglo TFOs or Heine Straight 8's installed when it gets back from Tripp's. TRUGLO - The World's Most Advanced Line of Fiber Optic Sights Heinie Specialty Products I like the TFOs, but they are so big and some have had issues with breakage. I like Heine but I'm not sure if I will like the dot over dot sight. Heinie Specialty Products I had PT night sights on my Glock 26 and they were OK. Pt and MMC Sights Night Sights I had green front - red rear. The red dimmed after 6 years the green dimmed out after 8 years. I'm subscribing to your thread in hope of finding some more answers....

2 No problems with mine....had them almost a year now. 3 No. I carry the XD45c in a Galco OWB, a BladeTech dropped offset Kydex, and a BlackHawk Serpa 2. Fits just fine in all three. 4 not applicable 5 Nope....don't want a laser.

Update!!
I went with Trijicon/AmeriGlo green front yellow rear. My local tactical shop had them in stock for my XD45 and they were installed and laser boresighted in about 20 minutes.
Very nice sights! The dots are smaller than I expected, which is what I wanted. I didnt want these huge glowing dots in my face and these are just right. They fit perfectly into my Mtac holster. These sights actually look very similar in size to the stock sights.

I have TFO's on my XD40 Service and I like them alot, although the rear sight came loose two weeks ago shooting some IDPA stuff( well over 1000 rds thru them). I just need to loctite it now. Great sights night or day, but I would opt for two different colors if I could get them.
I have XS Big Dot tritiums on my XDSC9 and I like them too, but I haven't shot with them near as much. It's a hard choice to make with so many options out there.

I tried several normal NS (Mepro's, Tri,) which are all the same. Didn't really like any of them. The TFO's with the yellow front and green back are phenomenal!
They are super bright day or night. I got them mainly for daytime and indoor shooting, as I figured if I can't see my sights (dark) I don't need to be pullin the trigger anyhow.

- Which sights did you choose and why? Tru Glo TFOs. In a range trip I used my brother in laws gun and fell in love. Brightest sights I have seen in the Arizona sun. - After some reports of tritium vials breaking on some brands, have you had any issues with your choice (if yours have vials)? Have 3 sets of TFOs on all of my XDs, never an issue with any. Over 4k rounds combined. - Do you have any holster fitment issues with the sites of your choice? Never, 5 holsters - If you are not satisfied with your choice, what would you do differently next time? Nothing. Green/Green is definitely the brightest. Glows very bright from shooters perspective. Unable to be seen by perp. Green/Yellow are also very good. Easier to differentiate between front/rear. - Would you have preferred to forego the sites and just use a laser? Never.
