ALERT! Product Saftey Recall Holsters
ALERT!! ALERT!! ALERT!!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM THE US CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION Recall Issued for Kydex® Holsters for Glock Handguns On May 17, 2005, the USCPSC issued a recall in cooperation with Michaels of Oregon, the manufacturer of Kydex® Belt holsters. The holster’s retention strap can move out of position and could cause a handgun to unexpectedly discharge while being reholstered, posing a serious injury risk to consumers. The firm has received three reports of unexpected discharges. In one incident, a law enforcement officer was shot in the leg while reholstering his firearm. The recall includes Kydex® Belt and Tactical Holsters with thumb break fits for Glock model handguns. The holsters are rigid and are made of black Kydex® and come with tension screws for a proper fit. The words, “Uncle Mike’s by Michaels of Oregon” are printed on the back of the holster. The recall involves sizes 12, 21, and 25, which is printed on the inside of the holster between the two screws securing the holster to the belt slide. Consumers who have purchased a Kydex® Holster with a thumb break for a Glock Handgun should stop using it immediately!!! More information is available on the CPSC web site. Ed |

Is it just me, or does it seem crazy that someone would try to reholster a gun with no manual safety, one handed, when they know there is a stiff plastic (kinda finger-shaped) protrusion near the rim of the holster?
Yet another reason to hate thumb breaks on holsters, I guess. Oh, and what cheap-ass police department is giving their officers Uncle Mike's holsters anyway? Do they drive Yugos too? Sounds like the cheap department bought cheap holsters, and haven't budgeted for quality safety training.

I saw this on Packing.org and gave my two cents and was slapped in the face with a "Comment taken offline".
See it here.http://www.packing.org/news/article.jsp/10187 All I said was you probably wouldn't see this on an XD because of the extra safety features. That website has gone to hell if you ask me. I have been a member there since about user# 2000, and now I don't contribute much because of the elitists and the know-it-all newbies.

Recall
This is from Fobus website
![]() I was taught to hold my thumb on the back of the slide when holstering this method would mean the XD could never have this problem as the grip safety is not engaged when your thumb is on the back of the slide while holstering Just a thought I don't know if this is a standard holstering method |
