Trigger Work Questions
OK...just bought an XD9SC...nice gun. haven't shot it yet, but dry fired it a handful of times last night, and I tested one at my range. My main complaint is the trigger. Not terribly happy with the reset or travel. So now I'm thinking about doing some trigger work. Now, I have NO idea what I need to do, or even where to begin (well, sort of...). I've checked out a number of trigger kits, but I don't know what works together with other kits and all that. I mainly want a shorter travel and reset, and if it's cheap enough I'd like to lighten the trigger just a bit. It will be a carry gun, so not too much.
My main questions are what are the good kits to get for this, and can I install them myself? I have no problem doing the install if all it is is removing the old parts and inserting the new. If I have to start modifying the new parts, or have to do any fine tuning, I'm out. And since I'm also thinking of some night sights, anyone know of a good gunsmith in the Metro-Detroit area? If I get the night sights soon I might just have everything done by the smith. |

Powder River Precision Striker Safety Lever Kit
I love this kit, takes up all pre travel, over travel and reset. It works great, but the set screw can be a little tricky to install. but there is a different trigger abr you can order to avoid needing a set screw. if you read the whole thread you get a good idea of the pros and cons of the kit (personaly when properly installed there are nothing but pros) and you can also order new springs with the kit if you want to make the pull lighter. (I opted out of the springs because its my carry gun and I dont want a feather weight trigger) but if you read the whole thread you get a good Idea of what the kit can do. |

Thanks! That seems to be a very reasonable price as well...I was expecting it to be well over $50. How does it compare to the springer precision trigger upgrade kit? That looks to be slight more involved and will also reduce trigger weight.

OK...so i was under the impression that by buying the Powder River "basic striker safety lever" kit, and dropping in the Springer precision trigger bar, it would basically be a "drop in" job? I'm not worried about a little tweaking here and there...but I don't want to drill into either the frame/grip or the trigger bar unless I have to. I just don't think my old drill can handle that.
Or would I just be better off buying the Springer trigger upgrade kit and call it a day? My first goal from doing this is to reduce the travel and reset, trigger weight reduction is nice, but definitely secondary. I don't want to spend more then $100.

And on a similar note, any good gunsmiths in the metro Detroit area? I'm also looking at some night sights.
