Laser aiming system from 'Preditor'
I just ordered the TLR-2 and should have it middle of next week, but I got to thinking how cool it would be to have not one but three laser beams to aim your weapon. Have one beam above and two on either side and a bit below so they form an equalateral triangle like the weapons targetting thing the creature from Preditor used.
Even neater but way more expensive would be a laser that projects a 'lader' on the target with hash marks for various ranges (5y 10y, 15y, ...). Brian |

Yeah and if you have the money, you could make them all blue lasers!
No thanks, 1 is enough. Get a plasma rifle if you want the three beams.

Well I did just order the TLR-2 and it has just the one laser -- still, it would be interesting to see what three spots would do. Might make the BG even more inclined to step down.
Of course it hard to know for sure if the BG would even know he was being lit up unless it was pretty dark or there was dust in the air. Brian |

You need to take a break from the TV and video games....
Three rules of gun control: 1.) Do not pull the gun except to protect a life... 2.) If you pull the gun intend to shoot the gun... 3.) If you target the bad guy shoot the bad guy... If the bad guy sees the laser dot he should already be shot.

it would be cool for the range but other than that its like having a mirror like polish on a daily carried concealed rig...pointless...but also like stated if your using a laser in self defense more than likley your dead or their dead so the three beams is a waste(scare tactics arent for guns, self defense is)

Actually, I own neither a TV nor any video games -- nice try though!!! It may well be the case that the laser is not visible to the BG it's painting so any 'scare' tactic maybe pointless. If, OTH, there is more then one BG the guys buddies may very well see the laser and be frozzen into submission. I'm prepared to shoot someone that poses an eminent threat but would prefer to avoid taking there life if not needed. Now the three dot 'Preditor' thing was just a bit of fun, in practice mounting such a system would likely be very cumbersome and alignment a PITA... OH, and on your laws ... I can't agree with rule number 3 and I ask you, is that what police are trained to do? Brian |

The mantra is, "stop the threat." If stopping means dropping, it sucks to be the bad guy.

If you really want the BG to see the laser, get one of the green lasers. Be aware though that if there is one BG or more than one BG, they can follow the laser back to your position.
Here is an item I copied off of a site that sells Crimson Trace Lasers: Deterrent: The threat of being shot is a strong deterrent. Nothing projects this threat as effectively as the bright red dot of a laser beam. Police and military users consistently report that Lasergrips de-escalate hostile situations by dramatically illustrating the consequences of continued hostile actions. Law-abiding citizens can have this same advantage, and can stop a threat without ever firing their gun. So yes, I can see where a laser can diffuse a threat. But if you are in a situation where you feel your life is in danger and you pull your weapon, you should be prepared to use your weapon. |
