serpa problems
bought a blackhawk serpa lvl 2 today, tried to see how it fit at the dealer, but it just fell right out with a slight tug, so he tightened it and it seems to be much better, but if you pull on it at a certain angle it still comes out. is this supposed to happen or should i send it to blackhawk and tell them its defective, thanks

the level 2 is the locking button right? if it is...make sure the trigger guard is engaging that lock by listening for the distinct "click".
If not, check to be sure its the right holster for your specific gun make, model, etc. then call blackhawk if its still not working.

im considering sending it back. i just wanted to pick up my holster for my xd9 service, even though i dont have it yet. I'll be getting it in about a week or two. but when i was at the dealer it didnt work at all, and he had to adjust the screws and tinker with it to get it to work. it is the correct holster for the xd 4 inch. it was the last xd serpa he had, so we tried a serpa on a glock, and it fit infinitly better, it was very snug, and nomatter how hard i yanked it wouldnt come out. its the opposite for the holster i purchased, the fit was very loose, and at a certain angle i could yank it right out of the holster.
i think im going to send it back before i get my gun. now, should i fill out the warranty card that came with it and send it in, then wait to call? or should i just call tommorow? |

It sounds like you are referring to the level 1 that uses a tension screw with the detent in the holster to more or less just pinch the gun into the holster. The level 1: The level 2 SERPA does have this, but it also has the finger release. You have to press the release to draw, and the tension screw is there so you can adjust your drawing effort to your preference. The level 2 SERPA: I have never had any problem with my level 2. Has worked great since the day I got it. All I had to do was adjust the tension a few turns and havent touched it in 2 years.

Thats strange....I dont think that I have ever found a way to wiggle mine loose. I played with it quite a bit when I got it and it has always worked well.
If the salesman had to screw with it at the store, and you still cant get it to work right I would return it. Blackhawk probably wont do much for you since you bought it retail and it didnt work right away. Their customer service is great, but I would just return it to the store and get your money back. Then go visit OldSchool's site and get one from him.

jcabin, are you sure that it's the right holster for your gun? The Blackhawk packages are not sealed. They can be opened in the store and fiddled around with. I once found a J-Frame holster in a package marked for a Sprindfield XD. eMail Blackhawk and see if the holster is marked with the exact model of gun it is intended for.
