What brass punches do you prefer? any brands? homemade? individual or sets?

$4 set from Harbor Freight. They are just punches, not some high tech precision measuring device.

The 4 dollar set i got at HF is steel and true crap.

I got a $5 set from Sears. They are steel. They may be crap, but they knock out pins.

I got these when Midway was running their sale last month. They are nice and come in a plastic case (not pictured). I like that it has all the sizes that I would ever need and plastic smaller ones so they don't dent the receiver when installing the bolt catch pin.

How can a $4 punch set be true crap? Does it push pins out differently than the $40 punches? Help me understand the difference. You might convince me to throw out my $4 set and spend $40 on a new set.
