Factory spring removal?

I have an XD 9 Tac in 5"....I have a solid guide rod I want to use with the factory spring....I don't know how to get the spring off the oem guide rod?

It doesn't just pull straight off? The tactical uses a stock one-piece full length guide rod with spring, no?

Just hold the spring/rod assembly by the spring and push it against a table until the rod comes in contact with the table, push a bit more and it should come right off.
