My slide with new TruGlo TFO's might be lost in the mail *UPDATE*

I had ajames install a set of TFO's on my XD9 slide. He said they were shipped priority mail over a week ago, from Alabama to Kansas. Should I start to worry yet or give it some more time. I don't know if he would have insured it for the value of the whole gun either.
I also installed a Springer trigger kit after I sent him my slide, and a new stainless guide rod is waiting to go in.

I don't want to unnecessarily alarm you but USPS First Class Priority Mail is 2-3 days (4 days the rare exception) unless there is a holiday, weekend, or an Act of God. He should have provided you with a USPS tracking number. If not, ask him for it and whether it was insured. He must have a record. Then simply track it at USPS - The United States Postal Service (U.S. Postal Service)

When I talked to him on the phone, he said he would get the tracking number when he got back to the office and call me right back. But that was yesterday.

Insist that the tracking number be mailed to you immediately and he is to advise on insured value. The after-market gunsmiths I deal with online send this info to me automatically or via phone without even asking. Mention if you have not done so already, that you are member of XDtalk.com. I think all will be ok but I understand your concern. Be polite but be firm.

USPS blows. I sent a RRA CAR stock to Kentucky(I'm in Ohio), and it took an entire week to travel 6-8 hours.

I don't know how you sent it but I have never had a problem sending or receiving by USPS First Class Priority Mail and I do a lot of it. 2-3 days and it gets to where it's going. And if it's of value, it goes insured.

He needs to get a tracking number.

I ordered some items from him about a month ago, they went missing in the mail too, but he went out of his way while out of town, bought the items from a local store and shipped me my order via ups. His local post office must have some issues.

USPS Priority mail is a bargain and is pretty good about the 2-3 day delivery, 4 days sometimes. I have had it take longer when I received something from Alaska, but I expected that.

USPS can be iffy though.

I mailed a holster to a friend this past February (regular mail, not Priority). It finally arrived ~2 months later. The package was torn and the holster was scuffed. Although he was kind enough not to actually say it, I know my friend was sure I had lied to him about mailing the holster. Luckily, it was an inexpensive old holster, and not something important.
