everyone keeps calling it a "tracking number" when it is actually a "delivery confirmation number"

USPS - Delivery Confirmation

Stuff happens we all know that but if the question is whether USPS First Class Priority Mail is not reliable, the answer is emphatically no. It is indeed the exception when you don't receive from anywhere within the continental US within 3 days. Bama, you can have a meterorite fall on your roof too and there is a Mack truck just waiting to hit you broadside (somewhere).

tracking number, confirmation number - same-same, semantics. But yes, the correct term is confirmation number.

For USPS Priority Mail, you are correct. However other carriers use "tracking number" and in the case of overnight or 2-day delivery, you'll know exactly where your package is at any given time.

I know it's more expensive but if it's a high-dollar potentially stealable item, it's not a bad idea to go with 2-day delivery as a minimum, insured, sig required. Complete guns, you have no option but to go overnight through UPS or FedEx, no-go on USPS regardless.

I think bottom line, all will end up well for this gentlemen and he'll be enjoying his new sights before you know it.

I don't think you can buy just the slide. AJames already told me if it doesn't show up that I will have a new pistol shipped to me and he would buy my old frame from me. So he did insure it.
I was hoping to hear something from him today but nothing. It will be 3 weeks Monday since I sent him my slide.
He said that he's only had one other slide get lost in the mail. He was telling me about another time when a box with a slide got tore, the Post Office seen the slide inside and freaked out, thought something illegal was going on.

I am sorry but something ain't right here or so it sounds. Did he give you a number so you can do some research on your end with the post office, albeit it's his responsibilty to resolve not yours? Why don't you contact Art again and tell him that a lot of folks at XDtalk.com are very interested in this paticularly those who are considering sending their slides to him for work. I would be concerned that it's now 3 weeks and the answer is blowin' in the wind.
