HELP: Should I Worry About The TFOs???

I recently ordered some TFOs for my xd40 sc. It was my understanding that they were very good sights. However, after ordering them, I have read many posts on the forum about people who have had problems with them: fragile, gun solvents damaging them, posts poping out of the sights, etc. All of these problems have me concerned and wondering if I should reconsider their instalation. Should I worry about these complaints? or are they somewhat rare? Has Tru Glo corrected the problems?

Are the sights very fragile? (this is my carry gun and IDPA gun)

Does the post pop out problem happen often?

Does gun solvents ruin them?

Is there something to do to protect them? (i.e. I have heard that some coat the post with clear finger nail polish to protect it and help it stay stuck)

Sorry for the long post, I am just a little concerned. Any input would be great, ESPECIALLY from all of you who have used these sights for a long time.

You made a good choice the issues you mention are not major problems and there are many many happy owners of TFO sights me included. As to the solvent issue this was a early concern when the sights first came out. I treat my sights will care because both sets are early sights. You can see that the TFOs have exposed tubes which allows them to work so well on daylight conditions unlike conventional night sight where the tube is sealed. These sights are amazing and are still my sight of night sight of choice.

Mine have been OK. I don't hose them down with solvents though. Can't think of a reason to do that.

I've got TFO's on my HS2000 and my digi-camo 1911 and neither have had any problems with being fragile or issues related to normal cleaning procedures.

Yes I have had mine on for about 2 years and they have been cleaned many times and have had solvents including Auto Brake Cleaner splashed in them many times. They are still as bright as when they were new.

You are going to LOVE them. I really enjoy shooting with them in all light conditions they are easier to see.
