Moly Resin
I know the "painting the polymer" thread is going, but I wanted to address a particular product.
John Norrell Arms - FAQ's Has anyone applied Moly Resin? How easy-difficult was it to apply? How do you like it so far? Do you recommend it? Any special tips?

I painted a charter arms .38 and my XD slide with moly resin. It's tougher than duracoat, my .38 rode in my car's glove box, no holster for a couple of years with no wear visible. My XD has seen heavy use, kydex holster, dropped 2 times in gravel, and once on cement. Yes a few scrapes but no peeling.
I parkerized both guns before painting because I don't have a sand blaster. I strongly recommend it.

Having used both Norrell's Moly Resin and KG Gunkote, I would lean towards the KG.
1) KG doesn't smell as strong as Norrell's, which is a big deal considering you will be baking the parts in your conventional oven. 2) KG offers a lot more color options compared to Norrells. 3) IMO, KG applies easier than Norrells. Some have speculated that KG and Norrells are one in the same product. Just a note, if you want FDE, don't use Norrells...it's been said that the FDE is not as durable as the other colors. I have used the KG FDE and have not had any issues. Norrells ![]() ![]() ![]() KG ![]() ![]() |
