Sight pusher??? and TFOs

I asked a local gun shop owner about installing TFOs on my XD. I do trust that he knows a lot about guns, etc and he does a lot of work on trigger pulls, etc. but mainly on rifles. He told me that he can do it but that it is difficult to do on an XD, which I have heard before. I was about to ask if he had a sight tool for the XD but I didn’t have a chance because he immediately began to tell me that he has a sight pusher and that he had to make an adapter so it would work on the XD. Does this sound right to you??? I have never heard of a sight pusher. Or, is a sight pusher the same as the sight tool??? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I just want to know if I can trust this guy.

Another question, how long does the TFOs last??? Do you have to replace the whole sight once it no longer is bright???

I'd rather have my XD and not need it, then need it and not have it....
is a sight pusher the same as the sight tool???
Yes. PistolGear.com sells a tool made specifically for the XD. I have installed my own TFO's on XD's, and it takes about 3 minutes.

Same thing different names sight tools do push the sights in or out. As to how long TFOs last I don't think anyone knows yet, they are relatively new to the market and have only been out about 3 years. I would say we are probably going to see 8-10 years before they start getting dimmer. Maybe longer and yes you would have to replace the whole sight which would be true for any gas filled night sight. Fiber optic sights you can just replace the tube but they don't work as well at night.

I appreciate your response. I am curious about their life expectancy. I did look on their website and have not found anything. Maybe I will send them an e-mail. But 8-10 years sounds great and feasible.
