Blackhawk Serpa level 2 or 3?
what do you guys recommend.. i love this holster and im going to order it for my OWB holster. i wear baggy clothes generally so it wont be a problem concealing.. i just want to know, level 2 or 3? 3 seems like youre going to have a hard time taking my gun off me if you knew it was there.. 2 seems like it might be easier if people were familiar with the design.. i was wondering if level 3 makes it any harder to draw or adds time to it... from the instructional video it doesnt seem as though it would

Don't have any experience with the level 3 but I really like my level 2 for comfort and it secures my XD very nicely.

Level two is just fine. It balance the need for retention and speed draw very well. Level three is more secure but it takes alot more training to master the draw. Most of my LE friends use level two on their jobs.

I have checked out the L3 at the shop (demo model) it is a really simple process but under stress your fine motor skills are reduced so it -could- be a drawback.

i dont think the level 3 is overkill as some have called it. i mean youre just placing your hand firmly on the grip.. which has engaged the XD grip safety, which means all you need to do once youre unhosltered is pull the trigger and youre good to go. alot of ppl i know say guns are dangers blah blah, but between a level 3 serpa and the XD's safety features, you've got yourself one of the safest self defense kits out there.

Is the Serpa Level 3 even available for the XD? It's not listed on their site.

i would go with a level 2....you really don't need a level 3. I don't think you would or should allow someone close enough where you can not defend a gun grab.
easiest way to defend (other then the level 2 serpa) is to just pull the gun into your body (in the holster)...it comes out from the top, if its in your side they certainly cant grab it.

My vote is for the Level 2, but Todd Jarrett has some pretty good demos with all the Serpa holsters:
