Very nice post! This helps me on making my decision on ordering one. I think I will wait until i can put my hands on one and try it now looks a little awkward and wide on the grip with it installed.
Thanks for the GREAT POST!

new guy
I have been around for awhile just don't post much. You guy's always answer my questions before I can ask. Thats a good thing. I also just got my Crimson Trace and love it. I still need to shoot it. I have the Xd 40 Subcompact too. I also have a MTAC holster and the gun fits with no problem. The Crimson Trace should work fine for you left handers too. The grip is wider as you can see in the pic's above. I would compare it to the Hogue handall Grips maybe a touch wider. I hope this helps someone.

The batteries are the small flat ones that you would find in slim calculators. I dont know the model number of the battery off hand, but they are about .75 inches in diameter and a few MM thick.
For the lefties: Holding the pistol in the left hand with left eye dominance, I find that as long as the left hand thumb is bent down or kept straight I dont think you will have a problem. Unless you have the hitchhikers thumb where the thumb points up while youre aiming and firing, you wont have a problem. I can take pictures of a lefty holding this later. Ive got slim fingers though, so it might be different for other people. Dont let the thickness fool the few that are considering the CT laser. The thickness isnt so much that it completely changes the arrangement of your grip/fingers. I personally think its a bit of an improvement as the insides of your hands are now cuping a part of the grip, versus you holding the grip with the meat of your thumb and your other 3 fingers pressing back against the thumb. Kinda confusing, but if you have any buddies that have a CT grip, I HIGHLY recommend asking to put your hands on it before you say no. The grip is made of the same stuff the XD grip is made of: polymer Hard plastic. I was hoping it would have been made of rubber as well. Something CT might consider. |

I'm a newb, don't own a gun yet, so forgive me if this is a stupid question.
What advantage does this have over a rail-mounted laser sight? Is it just for the ability to use it in a holster, personal preference, or some other advantage I can't think of? Also, how do you adjust it? It looks pretty fixed in the pics.
