Replacing front sight

Hi,

I'm trying to replace the front sight on my XP and it is very tight. Before I crank on my B&J P500 universal sight tool too much I would like to know if the sight is pinned from the underside of the slide. There is a hole approx. at the front sight location but I think it is a blind hole?.

I broke a B&J P500 on the front sight.

Then I got out my biggest hammer and steel punch, firmly locked the slide in my padded vice, and then I beat the ever loving crap out of it until it came loose.
