Not sure where to start

So I figured I'd ask.

I want a trigger job. I know how to pull all the springs and parts and put it back together, but I don't know what parts I need to buy.

My biggest complaint with the XD the long trigger travel and reset. The trigger weight isn't bad but I figure that since I'm replacing parts I might as well lighten the trigger up.

What kit or parts do I need to order, because I know there are a lot of different parts out there but I don't know which one's do everything and which ones only do one or the other

The easiest trigger job to do is an after market trigger bar from Springer and the PR safety lever. It wont lighten the trigger but it sure does change things up.

I just recently changed the standard sear and safety lever in my XD9 to a Bob's Xtech competition sear which also replaces the safety lever it is a one piece unit and also used the trigger spring kit, I bought them all through XDguy's what a difference shortened take up and reduced the pull to about 3.5lbs. Easy to put in and easy on the pocket. I will most likely replace the trigger bar to take up the rest of the trigger reset.

update your profile

Hey Doc, I don't think that I've had the opportunity to welcome you aboard.

Sure would like to at least a little more about you. You're a bit secretive or just cautious on your profile. I ask because I know two fine fellows that use that moniker, didn't know either one of them were into XDs. Are from Houston or Reno?

Right now with the concerns over Bob's Sear kit from XD Guys I would get the Powder River Safety Lever Kit. Bob's Sear Kit is not really a drop in part while the Powder River Kit is trully drop in. I have both kits and the Powder River Kit gave me the most impressive results with the least amount of effort. Both kits reduce the trigger pre-travel and both kits require either rework of the trigger bar or an after market trigger bar.

Can you use the Springer trigger bar with the Powder River safety lever? The description for the springer trigger bar says that it is not compatible with the stock sear. has anyone tried this combo, the PRP Safety lever with a Springer trigger bar?? I have ordered the PRP safety lever but I am not to fond of the idea of drilling my trigger bar and possibly compromising the strength, when it comes down to it I don't want a trigger bar breaking at the worst time. (and I can't put the set screw in the plastic its a .45)

Thanks

The Springer Trigger Bar will work with the Powder River Safety Lever it eliminates the need to drill the factory trigger bar if you want to reduce the trigger over travel. You will still have to remove material to adjust the amount of over travel but if you do it slowly once it is where you want it it won't change. The modification to the trigger bar is really for the competition shooters to provide quicker double taps. If this is just and range gun I don't think it is necessary, I don't think I would make this mod on a carry gun. In addition I don't know that I would do this on a gun shooting store bought ammo, I don't think the double tap speed of a 45 using factory loads will benefit that much from a quicker reset. That's my opinion and I'm sticken to it.

It is more do to the fact you can use a more refined technique of riding the reset versus the gross motor skill of a controlled slapping of the trigger.

I know you can shoot .15 splits with a XD .45 and a trigger job and factory ammo.

I do to!

This XD is modified with the Springer Precision trigger kit.
Doubletap Championship 2008 Stage 6 IPSC Gods Shawn

I can now shoot this pistol much faster than the stock trigger kit.

Are you telling me those are factory rounds? Man I got to get stronger wrists. It's all I can do to keep 1 sec splits on an 8" paper plate at 10 yards with factory ammo. My social security checks may be in jeopardy from muggers.
