Xd .40 trigger???? Which to buy to fix take up, reset, and trigger weight?

I have searched and read alot of threads and a few polls, on this today and have read a bunch months ago. I am going to purchase a trigger kit that I can install and I want to fix all three of the problems I feel this trigger has. A: too much take up before it fires, B: to much reset (find myself not releasing enough to get it to reset sometimes), C: heavy trigger.

I dont want to mix and match brands, and would rather not have a drilled and tapped trigger bar. I have read contradicting opinions on bobs kit. Is it the way to go? Will it cure all three problems or just the take up and trigger weight? I dont want to have a short take up and a long reset... That would make the long reset even more noticable. Thanks for your help and if the answer to this has been posted and I missed it please post a link. This is my CCW by the way.

For some reason my username is no good anymore (used to be armedacman). So I got a new one. Thanks

Here's the options that will do all of what your asking. In no special order.

Bobs sear, springs, and trigger bar.

Springers sear, springs, and trigger bar.

Powder Rivers safety leaver, and overtravel drop in, with a set of springs from any of the above or Canyon Creek.

I have ZERO complaints about the Springer Precison parts in mine.

The springs and sear come as a kit, then you just add on the trigger bar.

Best parts I've added to any of mine.

I have Bob's kit in my XD9 Service and XD40 Service. But I don't plan on doing anything to my XD40sc carry pistol. Not because from fear of some lawyer if I ever have to use my carry pistol but because I don't want to mess with it and affect reliability. The XD trigger isn't really that bad.

PS. Welcome, neighbor.

Thanks for the welcome!

I do NOT want to lower the reliablility in this gun or any I own for that matter. I have around 6000 rounds through mine mainly with CCI ammo but some winchester remington, federal and seller belloit. I have had 1 failure to fire, and it was not the guns fault. It struck the primer and the primer was bad I guess (CCI).

If any of these mods (done correctly of coarse) lower the reliability or could cause a jam/F.T.F. I will jut leave it stock.

I'm sure there are many who have gone through thousands of rounds after a mod. I'm just being overly cautious with my carry gun, I guess.

The mods if installed correctly will not effect the reliability of the gun.

The only thing I would add to that is DO NOT use the reduced power striker spring if it's your carry gun. The ONLY FTF's I've had with ANY of my XD's were with the .40's when using the reduced power striker springs.

Also, consider keeping the stock weight sear spring. For a carry gun, too low of a trigger weight is not necessarilly a good thing. Try to keep it in that 4.5 - 5.5 lb range. Under stress you loose the sensation in your fingers VERY FAST and your trigger control kinda goes to crap.

Just my .02

Yep I keep forgetting that they ship with the reduced power sear and striker springs now.

Allen,

It looks like we're neighbors.

I have a 9mm Service with a #2.5 trigger by Springer Precision that I shoot in IDPA, a .40 Tac with a Springfield Arms #2.5 - #3.0 trigger and a .40 Service with the sear and springs kit from Springer Precision if your interested in trying any of them.
