I've got an XD-9 4" and just installed (literally, less than an hour ago) the Lasermax guide rod version. Took less than 10 minutes, start to finish. So simple, you almost wonder "What am I missing?"
The battery set is three batteries (basically small, hearing aid batteries). According to the shopkeeper, batteries usually last about a year, with an average amount of shooting. He did say the first batch of batteries tend NOT to last that long, because you will be playing with this thing until the novelty wears off. A set of three batteries runs $10-11. I really like the idea of nothing external added. The laser+batteries really don't add any noticeable weight compared to the stock guide rod. I too have smaller hands, and I don't find it at all awkward to turn on the laser. The switch can be reached from either side, and it is easy to find by feel. Center position is "off." Reason I went with laser in the first place is my eyes are not what they used to be... I've had cataract surgery with lens implants, so I am stuck being farsighted. I just cannot see sharply enough with traditional sights to achieve the accuracy I want. The laser beam seems to match up quite nicely with where the iron sights put the shot, but I won't be able to tell for sure until I shoot her. The only unfortunate thing is I won't be able to get to the range until next Friday Last edited by jmichna : 03-22-2008 at 03:05 PM. Reason: Fixed mistake |

Need A Laser
Armalaser is comming out with a new RSS laser for the XD compact and sub compact. It lists for $179 and is shipping the end of the month. I have one on my Kel-Tec and am very satisfied. The new style sounds even better. Tou may want to check them out.

Why do you feel you need a laser?

I have a lasermax in my XDSC9. I'll sell it to you if you want. It's in perfect condition. I just would rather have one for my Beretta. PM me.
