PowderRiver Trigger mod (video)
I installed a PowderRiver 'safety lever' today in my XD Tactical. If you can dissasemble your XD, then you can add this mod but if you DONT have an overtravel screw, your going to sell this part short. If you contact Powder River, he will instal the screw and the part for you as a package deal. I added my overtravel myself a couple of years ago.
I put this part in and was very impressed with the amount of take up that it eliminated. Im no professional video maker but I did include a short vid showing the huge difference that it makes. Be sure to unload your handgun before doing ANYTHING to it, and then check it again to be sure. I have shot other XD's witht he various trigger mods that are on the market and I can honestly say that this one is quite impressive. It will not change the weight of pull but it will do everything else for you. This part is definately staying in MY gun, you will have to buy your own This is the part installed... ![]() Notice the amount that I had to adjust my overtravel by comparing it to the picture above... ![]() And this is a vid showing the difference... ![]() If you prefer, you can drill a hole in the frame for the overtravel screw. Here is where you can get the drill bit for it... You will also need a 4-40 Tap Qualtech Size #43

I was really impressed as to how much of an difference the drop it part made. I had identical result with my Powder River drop in part. I to will give it a 10 out of 10.

what is the benefit of this over a springer kit? Are the two kits compatable?

That is very impressive...I was just thinking yesterday about how long the reset is on the XD. I had nothing to compare it to until I got a 1911 with a sweet trigger on it.

As far as the parts being interchangeable, I really dont know. The gun I shot with springer parts was not mine and I have no way of swapping out parts to determine if they will interact. I would contact the manufactures and get their input on this.

For one, if you drill and tap your own trigger bar, the cost of this project is under $50 even if you have to buy a few parts/tools to make it happen. The trigger bar and sear mod from Pistol gear will run you $140.

thank you for the nice write up and the vid.
just to be clear, this is a semi drop in part and some fitting may be required. SA has outstanding QC and we try to as well. Powder River Precision, INC. This part needs to be installed by a qualified gun smith. All safety’s should be checked for proper function after installation of this part. .

So, is it something my newbie self could do? I haven't yet fully taken the gun apart, but I would like to be able to do a trigger job, and this seems like a good way to do it.

The trigger bar can be hard to drill and tap and if you do it wrong, your out a trigger bar. I would suggest sending it to pwderRiver and let him do it all for around $50.00.
