I agree I think the frame mount screw would be a better mounting solution. Provided there isn't much trigger bar deflection. I think someone mentioned there wasn't any when they mounted the screw in the frame. leaving the trigger bar untouched leaves no chance of failure of the trigger bar. With the frame drilled worse thing that could/would happen is the screw falls out, still leaving you with an operating firearm. I have mine trigger kit on order and will install mine in the frame as soon as it arrives.

powder river part

I am curious about how much takeup is reduced in the .45 ACP Tactical.
My Springer competition trigger reduced it to 0.3". Does the powder river safety lever make it crisper?

I'd guess that the take-up is the same. However, I'm willing to bet that the trigger break is cleaner and more crisp with the modified sear. All the take-up is gone with this mod but it still has the same trigger break feel.

I had Daniel do a trigger job on my XD. I now have 0.14" of travel to fire. See here for full details: Data: My PRP Trigger

Daniel, can you comment on this? I am planning on doing my XD, but cannot decide if the extra money is worth having a new triggerbar and sear. How does the trigger break feel?

Also, does this modify any safety devices such as disengaging the drop safety or firing pin safeties?

It's for my XD-SC9 and it's my daily carry gun, so "legalities" are important to me.

Thanks.

Let me start off by saying that there are a lot of options for doing a trigger job on the XD. At the time I designed the lever, a lot of gunsmiths were modifying or in some cases even disabling the striker block safety to do a trigger job. Some "Gunsmiths" still defeat this safety. This is not a good thing on any gun including competition guns.

My striker safety lever was designed to address the main complaints of the trigger pull without disabling or reducing the engagement of the striker block safety. Several gunsmiths are now using my lever to do different types of trigger jobs from carry to competition. The feel of the break will vary based on what all you have done. If you have just the lever installed with an over travel stop, the break will feel the same as it is now. It may seem to be more crisp due to the fact that the trigger pull in general is improved.

Springer makes Quality parts that are safe. I have no problem recommending his products.

If you installed the kit, minus the overtravel screw, would you still get the shorter reset? I'm guessing so, along with the shorter take-up. It would just still have a lot of overtravel.

The reason I appear so ignorant is that I don't have my XD yet. I'm hoping to get either an XD40 Service or an XD45 Compact maybe next month.

You are correct, you will have a short take up, short reset but factory overtravel.

PS. We were all ignorant about this stuff at one time or another.

That sounds like a decent set-up, and the overtravel screw could always be added later.

I think I've found my large-bore plastic pistol in the XD. Current just a G19 and 1911 shooter, but wanting to get something more modern for the ".4 caliber or greater" niche.

I really like the XD platform but by adding this part or any other trigger mod, the XDE REALLY begins to shine.
