I emailed Daniel late Sat night with a few questions on this mod and got a reply from him an hour later. Impressive as hell ! This is a great link on an exciting DIY mod.... thank you everyone. After looking at this I do Not see why you would want to piss around w/ drilling the trigger bar.

I will be ordering a trigger kit from him later this week. I have a couple years on my stock XD 40TAC and am now ready to improves a decent trigger to 1911 status at minimal cost. Thanks again.

Did you get the drill in there strait or did you drill it at an angle? I looked at mine and looks like I would have to drill it at a little angle. Is that ok or is there another way of doing it?

Drilling it at a shallow angle should not hurt anything.

Ok thanks. Time to go put it in..

Edit: I just installed the kit and it was a breeze. Only problem I had was not having the right size allen wrench. Luckly I had a small enough screw driver to fit it perfectly, so it worked out good. Haven't got to shoot it yet, but just dry firing it was amazing. I will take it out and run some rounds through it tomorrow and see the major difference. Thanks for the info and help!!

JMO, but I think the kit should include the $.50 allen wrench. Still a great kit though.

Is it just my eyes or do the SC's have a smaller area for the screw to go into? I was looking at my .40SC this morning trying to see the best way to drill into the frame and though it was going to be a problem with how tight it is in there.

The frame drilling option WILL NOT WORK FOR THE .45ACP XDs.
There's not enough side-wall thickness to drill and hold the 4-40 screw on the .45ACP pistols; you will have to drill the trigger bar.
It's not too hard. Use a sping-loaded punch(as mentioned) and a carbide bit with plenty of cutting oil and a steady hand.
I did this mod last week and set the screw with additional Red Loctite thread compound. The difference in trigger travel and feel is amazing. Now I've got to do this to my father's and a friend's XD!

It is a really good idea. I will include the #43 drill bit and an allen wrench in the kit with the next run of parts that I'm making. It will bump up the price by $1.50, I think that this will still be cheaper than buying the wrench and bit from the hardware store.
Thank you for the feedback,
Daniel

I am already mentally preparing for this mod before I even aquire the parts (I am waiting for the next batch and spring kit Daniel will have)

Let me throw this out there and see what you all think ....I may have a sleeper trick up my sleeve to do the frame drilling ..... There are two sizes of dremmel bits ....I mic'd a smaller sized bit @ .092" .... I believe I can use my flexi shaft and the small collet to hold that .089" #43 bit ... the flex shaft will allow me to reduce the angle significantly.

Sound plausable ? As long as that collet holds the bit concentrically all should be cool.

As long as your able to hold the shaft perfectly straight so as not to 'funnel' the hole.
