5.11 Tactical - Undergear Holster Shirt + XD9 Service(another review with pics)

Hey all. After basesohc's thread on the holster shirt, I decided to grab one as an easy way to start carrying. I want to ultimatly carry IWB, but right now, I dont want to go buy new jeans and pants etc etc. I figured the shirt would be a good way to start carrying and get used to having my pistol on me until I can grab new carry wardrobe.

So...I wont babble too much. I took a bunch of pics of my ugly mug to show how it fits and how it hides. Im sitting here wearing it right now. Ive had it on with my pistol on the left and a full mag on the right for about an hour now.

First impressions...the shirt fits tight. Im 6'4 240 lbs and I ordered a large based on my chest measurement. I was leary..but the material is very forgiving. It fits very snug, as its supposed to. It is VERY comfortable. Even just as a shirt. The non holster areas are a stretchy thin material, and the holster areas are thicker neoprene areas. Nothing is poking me, nothing is cold, doesnt feel like its pulling the shirt down... Just becomes part of your torso. I jumped, ran, rolled, twisted, sat, layed, got in the car, got on the bike etc and it hardly moved. Just alittle vertical movement..mostly with my skin movement.

Quick draws arent going to happen. Maybe if you dive in hard and strong and yank it out. But its not hard to get to. Adds a couple seconds to your draw time probably.

Anyway..here are my pics. Just several poses with abutton up shirt on that Ide wear out, no cover shirt, draw pics...

continued...

If anyone has any questions about it, or wants to see some different pics..let me know.

Gets two thumbs up from me though! I can ride the motorcycle with this on no problem too.

How do you think the material will handle perspiration, particularly on a summer day?

Couldnt tell ya. The non-holster parts are spandex. So however a spandex shirt would hold up to sweat... The holster pockets are a mixture of materials. They feel alittle like neoprene, but the shirt info says spandex, nylon and something else. There seems to be quite a barrier between your skin and the pistol. Like I said, you cant even feel the cold steel through it.

I can tell you that it breathes very well. It was warm tonight, and I was in that shirt running around and what not. It actually kept me sorta cool. Whatever you wear on the outside as a cover shirt doesnt snag like on a cotton undershirt, it glides over. Sort of gives a cooling feeling...

Time will tell though. Im willing to bet I could wear a regular, printed t-shirt over this, and it would conceal half decent. If I had a sub-compact, which Im in the market for, it would be cake. Wouldnt see it at all unless your outer shirt was skin tight...

Looking good!!! It wicks moisture really well. The material feels just like an under armour shirt (designed to wick moisture away from the body). I have even worn mine to the gym under a t-shirt, using the pocket to carry my ipod (when i dont have pockets in my shorts). As soon as it quits raining, I will jump on the bike and take it for a ride as well.

How does it distribute the weight of the gun? can you tell you're carrying it or do you kind of forget that it is there?

Ordered mine and they should be here this week as well

Thx

Nice writeup, looks pretty cool. I'd love to have one, but I pretty much only wear T-shirts. I can't imagine it'd be very quick/easy to get to.

I've looked at these for carry while out on runs. I think after a few miles it would start to be severely irritating though.

How easy is it to draw with a t-shirt on? Have you timed drawing with different shirts on? It looks interesting but my main concern is the time it might take to draw with a t-shirt. Nothing is perfect but it looks like a good option for a button down shirt which I wear frequently.
