stainless guide rod?
Anybody used an aftermarket stainless guiderod on an xd? Saw one on a site and wondered if there would be any advantage to it. It would look kinda cool on the end of the gun in my opinion lol

it adds a little bit of weight for faster follow up shots, adds the ability to change recoil springs (1911 style) so you can customize the recoil you feel. plus like you said, it just looks cool.

I use one. Nice. Little heavier than the factory rod...easy to clean.

i use the dons guide rod for my 40 service and i use either the 22lb or 24 lb spring. i do like the reduction in felt recoil but it is extreamily hard to pull the slide back and to flip up the lever to take the slide off. but i wont ever go back

Got a DGR included in a deal for a Blade Tech DOH holster. Installed on my Tactical 40 model & just used the stock 18-lb. spring that came with the gun.
Can tell there is some additional weight-forward advantages, but really haven't played with it enough. I have some lighter steel loads that may take a reduction to a 16-lb. spring to handle the longer slide, plus the guide rod came with a 20. For full power loads, will likely also test the 22-lb. |

I just tested out my Don's guide rod and it functioned flawlessly with the stock spring weight. I'm going to try other weights next, to check how it effects the recoil. I'd recommend it, they're cheap from pistolgear.com
