experience with xd conversion barrels?
i have been looking at getting a 9mm conversion barrel for my xd service model that is in .40 for several reasons. one i have quite a bit of trainning courses that i plan to attend this year, and the rising cost of ammo is gettig crazy. i have been looking at the efk firedragon ss conversion barrels. any experience with them.i have found the on thier website is there anywhere else to get them? will i see improvments in the accuracy as well as being able o fire 9mm? are they better than the factory barrels? also are there any other companies that i should look at?
thanks |

I've had good luck with mine. Over 1500 rounds with only a few feed problems, those were from using unmodified 40 mags. Once switched over to all 9mm mags no more problems. I've also been using a Don's guide rod. Started out with the 22# spring, then the 20#, seems like the 18# is working out as the best combo for me using WWB ammo. Best of luck with your hunt!!

I have the 9mm Ported Barrel for my .40 Tac.
I needed to do a little filing to make it fit. It wasn't hard, and now it fits BETTER than the .40 Barrel. They sent me an extra spring which is lighter than my stock spring, but I only need it when I shoot reloads so I dont get stovepipes. Definetly get some 9mm mags (why mess up your .40 mags). ....And a word of advice: Don't go to the range and switch Back N' forth between the 2 calibers unless your REALLY PAYING ATTENTION! (My buddy almost shot a .40 out of the 9mm barrel!!! Luckily I noticed before he put the magazine in.)

40-9mm conversion
I've got one I bought off CoreyG. it works great but as stated before, get some 9mm mags. mine started as a tac barrel but was cut down and crowned really nice( I use it in a service). only 1 failure and that was when i took the son & his wife to the range. he had two occurences where the gunstarted to feed before ejecting the previous round.
I figured I would buy a 9mm mag so I don't have to buy jrs. 40 cal. ammo! |
