Night sight compatibility with Crossbreed holster

I have a Crossbreed holster (that i love), purchased in August and am now going to get a set of nightsights installed on my 9sc since it's my CCW.

Just starting to do the research on the various sights out there but right off the bat it would be helpful to eliminate any that will make the gun not fit in my holster.

So are they any sights to avoid due to fitting issues with a crossbreed supertuck?

Lucky Strike, it is not only Crossbreed
brand, there are many, including the
leather ones which can get snagged.

Mark at Crossbreed will happily guide
you through the process of a small
mod to your existing Crossbreed to
accomodate certain night sites which
you have installed.

If you have not installed a set, or even
bought a set - I like Tru-Glo, Mark will
make the fix for you, if he knows the type
of sights you are going to install, when he
makes your holster for you.

The fix is quite easy to do.

Just an FYI for anyone else in my situation I got a reply from Mark at Crossbreed and he said of the 3 sights i'm looking into, the Heine Straight 8's and XS Std Dot sights will work no problem but the TFO's might have an issue.....he also offered to modify the kydex for me at no charge.

Great guy.

I have one of Mark's SuperTucks and have Tru Glos TFOs on my SC9. I have never had any problem with drawing and putting my gun in the holster, so I didn't think there was a problem. Shame on me.

I just now looked at the sights and they are in great condition. I also looked inside the holster and for the first time, noted there is a "gouge" mark the length of the inside of the holster where the sights are evidently scraping against it. I need to contact Mark.

Thanks for the info on this Ed and I'm glad you brought this question up Lucky Strike.

+1 on CS at Crossbreed, Mark does his
best.

By the way, there was a thread some time
back on the issue of some sights causing a
problem. I mentioned it to Mark in a reply
post and he readily set me straight and offered
up a fix, if sent back to him, at no charge.
I followed his instructions and all worked out
great.

I only mentioned other holsters, such as
leather, simply because I had on my belt
slide just last week, with my SA Micro in
it, and found out the hard way! the front
sight dragged and gouged so much, that
a fast draw was impossible. I had not used
the belt slide with the SA Micro .45 before,
so I made a very potential 'deadly' mistake.
Take nothing for granted, if it can happen
it will happen.

OK let me adress the TruGlo TFO issue here. There have been a bunch of questions about them again.

The thing about TFOs is not that they are tall because they really aren't, its that they are so dang LLOOOoonnnng. What happens is they engage the shallow end of the sight channell before the trigger gaurd clears it's pocket.

This is the most pronounced on XDsc's and Baby Glocks because now you have this extra long sight on a very short slide. Usually it is less of an issue with 4" slides and up.

As far as gouge marks inside the holster, yes, that can happen. It is unlikely however that it will scrape enough to cause a structural problem. If such should happen, it will be addressed on a case by case basis.

Many holster makers and even some of the larger mass production outfits will not warranty or gaurantee thier holsters to work with any sight other than factory. We do not see the need for this at this point as we have had no holster failures due to TFOs or any other sight for that matter at this time. We have had some holsters needing tweaked for some extra clearance in the sight ramp/channell and those have been done gratis as a customer service issue.

This will remain our policy unless we see a legimate need to make an exception for a particular sight due to excessive problems with it. At this point, none of the aftermarket sights fall in this category.

Thanks 'fer listnin'

i know this is a little off topic, but i dont think i have ever heard anyone talk about the "loaded chamber indicator" on the xd's. Is there someway to improve the supertuck so that the holster does not get scratched, and the firearm does not get hung up when holstering?

There are instructions somewhere here on how to do that. I just don't remember where...
