Springer Precision Questions?
I am considering sending my XD's to Springer for the mod that takes the slack out of the trigger to help with quicker/smoother trigger control. I'm trying to achieve something smilar to the feel of the 1911 trigger (if that's possible).
I've heard good things about Springer and wanted to know if anyone had any positive/negative experience with this mod and Springer workmanship. Also, probably have them install new night sights and the extended mag release at the same time. Thanks...Dan

Definitely have him do all the work at the same time - worth it, Scott's a great guy, fast turnaround. Just make sure you sort out what you want first (carry, HD, competition, etc.) I've wasted a frickin ton of money trying to work through this stuff. corrected: won't be exactly like a 1911 as LR says, but definitely can get alot crisper, less mushy with Scott's work

Springer does great work. It'll be alot crisper, lighter & much more responsive that's for sure. Scott knows how to make an XD the way it should be. Also, don't forget, while it's no substitute for an all-out trigger job, you can also order the parts from him & DIY if you have some inclination w/o the worries & shipping costs of sending it out for service.
Unfortunately if it's a 1911 trigger you're looking for... sorry to say, but it's never gonna feel even close to that as they're completely different mechanisms; the 1911 trigger travels short as it's set into the handle, rather than over it on the frame, as in the XD's (and many other polymer receivers) case. It's the nature of the beast.

I had my XD40 done by Rich at Canyon Creek and my XD40 Sub Compact done by Scott at Springer. If for some reason I ended up with a third XD it would go to Spring if I were looking for just trigger work. Overall, they are both very good, but the one by Scott is just a little tighter, a little less take-up. Both guys do good work and they offer some different services. My advice is that you figure out all that you want done and try and only ship to one location to get what you want.

Forgive my ignorance;
Do you have to send the entire pistol in, or can you just send in the frame? What kind of turn around time would I be looking at? I'd like to do both of my XDs, but I'll be unarmed if I send them both in. I know I should be asking Scott these questions, but since I found this post, I thought I'd ask yall. Thank you............................ Merry Christmas. |

If you're just getting a trigger job, I suppose you could send the frame only....but I'd send Scott an e-mail to make sure. When I sent mine, I had the slide hardchromed and TFO's installed, so I had to send it all. As far as the turnaround time....mine was a few weeks because of the Tripp hardchrome. From what I understand, his turnaround for just a trigger job is super quick, usually only a few days. Give Scott a call. He's good people.
