Conversion Barrell: 40 to 9; Tactical

I want to have the flexibility to shoot 9MM, cheaper ammo, more available, etc... Has anyone actually done this conversion? Found it online for $150. Is it really so simple that I just pop in the barrell? It seems the opinions vary on whether you need to use a 9MM mag or if the 40 mag suffices.

Would like to hear about hands on experience anyone might be familiar with firsthand.

I have an XD40 Tac and I use the EFK Firedragon 9mm conversion barrel. The barrel is fine, but the XD design uses a fixed position extractor and the 9mm rounds narrower diameter means there is no extractor tension. Extraction was not 100% until I reworked the extractor.

As for mags, you can use .40 mags if you narrow the feed lips a bit (like maybe .020 - .030")

I bought a conversion barrel on this forum. Works great. even uses my 40 mags. No extraction issues here, however, I have been cautioned against using a 9mm barrel in a 40 for the reasonj posted above-less than exact extraction!
Ipersonally wouldn't trust the aforementioned weapon(as a carry piece) in its original configuration if the extractor had been reworked. Gaming is fine. I dumped a 12 rd mag of 9mm w/my 40 service and it ran great but if I carry it it's w/a 40 barrel.
