Barstock Trigger Bar form Springer Precision
I ordered the Springer “Reduced Travel Kit- .45 – Polished” and installed it. It reduced the pre-travel as advertised and also reduced the trigger pull to about 4.5 lbs. I immediately loved it but didn’t like the over-travel that remained. But, I didn’t want to be without my piece for the time it would take to mail the trigger bar to Springer for modification so I kept putting off sending it. Finally I called Scott to arrange to have my trigger bad drilled and taped and learned that he was offering the “Barstock Trigger Bar” for the 45. I ordered one and waited impatiently for its arrival. Snail Mail to Alaska tests one’s patience. But, I still had my gun in working condition while I waited.
Installation was a little more complicated than the Reduced Travel Kit as the Barstock Trigger Bar needs to be filed to custom fit it to your weapon. Even so (using the fine side of the file on my Leatherman Wave) in less than an hour I had it installed and making the XD go “click” with a really smooth and short trigger pull with almost no over travel. The next day I went to the range to try it out. Unfortunately, my XD still only went “click” with live ammo in the pipe. My Glock shooting buddy thought this was quite humorous. It was too cold to do a field adjustment so I took it home and filed off a very, very small but more of the front of the trigger bar and reassembled it. This time I slid a piece of wood doweling down the barrel to see if the firing pin would dent it when I dropped the hammer - it did, and there is still almost no over travel. I went back to the range and ran 100 rounds through it. It is a BEAUTIFUL thing! Thanks for fine product Scott. If you decide to put a Barstock Trigger bar in your gun I would recommend that you check out this thread before you install it, not after like I did. http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43154 It may save you some time and embarrassment. |

Have your Glock buddy shoot your XD now and see him squirm over how nice and smooth that trigger is.
