I think the lightbulb pack said its for a 5 cell light, that would be 7.5 volts and the 3 new batteries are 3 volts each which would be 9 volts. It makes me wonder how long the new bulb would last.

I'll tell ya when mine burns out.

I did this and it really does put out some good light. It puts out just a little less than my Surefire M951, but for a bedside light I've got no qualms.

that's pretty cool. thanks for posting it. i'm not sure i'd call it a "police flashlight" since it's definitely not as sturdy as a metal-cased flashlight built to withstand some thumping, but for the price you can't beat it.

I stand by my rock river, or river rock.. what ever the manufacturer is I love this light. It is bright and has a projector style glass that creates a super crisp beam of light. I spent $40 on it at target and it will certainly blind the living crap out of you, trust me I have tried it... Not to mention you can crack many a skull with this thing.

This is a cool mod, but with any over powered electrical sequence something is going to burn out on this fairly quickly.

This was posted on the forum a while ago. I tried it....the light is bright, but the bulb burned out after about 30 minutes of use.

I agree that it's not a surefire by a long shot, but it's a neat idea. I also realize that the bulb would burn out faster because it's got too much juice going to it, but it just made me think of a question. Why not buy a different crypton bulb that was the same size and rated for more juice? As long as you buy a bulb that will handle more voltage than the 9 volts of juice you put to it, wouldn't the bulb not burn out any faster? I don't know how long the batteries would last, but it was just a thought.
