Modded my MTAC!

Was tired of the "tail" on my CT Minotaur for my 40SC so I broke out the blade! Took an exacto type scapel and lopped of the vestigal tail. I'm not going to carry any long barrel guns so it's not needed. First I cut straight across then used the cut tail to make the curved cut. I still don't like how the rear part hangs lower then the barrel and tends to poke out away from the body. I'm sure it'll soften up later. before and after shots!

Cool Post

Cool post - I think a lot of us mess with our gear once it comes into our possession but I've not seen a thread where we talk about it. Do you have the edging stuff to go over the leather you trimmed?

Nope, I sanded it down a bit, trying to "burnish" it a little, then hit it with some paraffin wax. Not going to worry about it too much.

Is it more comfortable now? That was a bold move. Good for you if it made a difference.

It's a LOT better now. The tail would stick out, my butt would poke it as I walked and the whole rig would bob up and down. Same thing when I sat down, the tail would hit and try to move the rig up off my belt. Very annoying. I'm sure it would have softened up over time, but why keep it when it does nothing for my carry situation? It's only there to protect full size gun barrels from poking you or getting sweat on.

Plus this was only a $70 holster, not a Tucker or anything! If I screwed up royally, I'd just fork out for a new one.

I like you're style 'nuts. And it's a whole lot easier to trim the tail on your holster than it is to trim the tail on your body.

Nice! I'll probably do that if/when I get an MTAC. Thanks for being a pioneer.

Well I got mine for my Keltec PF-9 and like you I hate the tail.

I think I am going to take the plunge and cut it tonight.

Even with a 4" barrel that much is just not necessary.

Other then the rear poking out like you said I love it for $70.
