Did you put it on your XD yet? I tried with a friends, and it wouldn't stay on the rail. The latch(?) wouldn't hook into the divot(?) in the rail of my forty five. but the light itself and the holder functioned great. Any 1" tac light should work.

I know this is an old thread, but I bought an XD flashlight holder yesterday, and it doesn't lock in to the notch on the accessory rail on my 4" XD-9, even without a flashlight in the holder. Am I doing something wrong? It looks like this thing wasn't designed properly...

I don't think it is for the gun, it clips on to the factory holster just like the mag loader.

If you're looking for a mid priced tac light for a four inch barrel Streamlight M3X, i bought one of these, 120 frigging lumens!! You can feel the heat and just an instant look and you're eyes are spotted for ten minutes!
Picture 3 for Insight Technology M3X Tactical Illuminator Long Gun / Pistol Weapon Mounted Flashlight w/ FREE UPS M3X-000-A17 M3X-000-A2 M3X-000-A15 M3X-000-A13 M3X-000-A9 M3X-000-A1 M3X-000-A3 M3X-000-A11 M3X-000-A8 - M3X (Insight M3X Pistol Mounted I payed 130 for mine. The X2 version is actually the same as the springfield version without they're logo, have that one on my 40 sub 3 inch barrel, but on 60 to 80 lumens, not as dazzling. Not to bash on your beloved M3, but they tend to melt if it's turned on for a long period of time. I've seen plenty of M lights come back for repairs due to heat damage.
I also wouldn't recommend the Strion for a weapon light. I wouldn't recommend lights that uses halogen lamps. We have a Thunder Ranch TL3 that has shockproof lamps, which is designed for usage with firearms. If you must have the Strion...wait til the Strion LED is released later on this year...it will be GTG for a weapons light. |

From the SA website:
"XD Flash Light Holder Fits all 4" & 5" XD's in any caliber. Works with many 1" flashlights and turns them into a tactical weapon light. While the light is off the pistol it can still fuction as a stand alone flashlight." So it doesn't sound like the holder is just made to clip onto the mag holster or anything, but the actual accessory rail...not sure why mine doesn't fit... |

The strion is for handheld use. It's to long to really use on a pistol. I bought it because it's rechargable, very few i've seen are. Sucks to spend ten bucks for batteries for one hour of light. I had heard that about the x series due to the lense not being pyrex, but I will rarelly use it for extended periods, mainlly for quick peaks. But i assume the next grade up on lights is a big jump in price? The m3x is relagated to the sig for a house defense status, to big to deep conceal, so I wanted something blinding on it. The little X2 is for filling out the assesories for the XD sub, kinda of like a new shirt or shoes to fill out the apparel, lol. If I ever buy a Kimber???? The little Xd will stay at home to keep the sig happy.
