Same here except for where I got it (Indy 1500 Gun Show). Haven't gotten to shoot it yet with it on. I'll know tomorrow after I shoot the match.

I've got a .45 service with a pachmayr slip on and it works wonderfully.. the finger ridges allow my hand to seat in the same place perfectly every time and it doesn't slide around at all. all it needed was a slight cut where the grip safety is so that it would sit up higher on the grip, but that was as easy as anything and has held up and not torn or ripped.. (i have heard the hogues are a thinner rubber and can tear if cut wrong, but the pachmayrs are pretty thick)
grip enhancement gets a definite thumbs up in my book.

Ive used slip on rubber grips on other firearms, and dont like them, I like the XD because of its slimmer grip and Im not adding anymore girth to it, but I love my sandpaper grips from pistol gear.....I wear the pistol in a blade tech drop and offset, but if its worn tight against the body, the grips will wear out a lot of shirts....

Here's some of the work that's been done on my new .45.
![]() Jess at On Target Custom Gun Works is doing it. Here's a link to his site: http://www.ontargetcgw.com First, he trims the grip- removing the checkering on the front & rear. Then, he reshapes/contours the corners and stipples the grip with a hot tool. Finally, he blasts the grip with some type of media to take off the rougher edges. The final result is a very high traction grip that isn't rough on your hands. Very sweet! I don't like some of the stick on stuff, as it can be rough on the hands or up against your body while carrying. They also don't help make the grip smaller like this does. He's also doing some custom clearancing at the rear of the trigger guard and high up on the rear ducktail for a higher hand hold on the gun. I'd recommend him. He does some nice work.

Dirk, I know you're having some other things done besides the grip work, (which I love), but I didn't see anything regarding custom work to XDs @ Jess's site. If it's not too much to ask, what would everything you've listed above run me roughly?

Yes. I used grip tape meant for ladders I got for the hardware store. Only on 1 side so when I draw from IWB no sticking happens.

Great idea, I don't know why I have never thought of that. I think I will do the same. Thanks!
