XML Light-----------love 'em or hate 'em??
So I just picked up my second XD and it came with the cutest little light that you ever did see!! It even takes a cute little battery.
I dropped the battery in and tried it, it's pretty bright, not a real even pattern like a Surefire but pretty bright and seems like a nice little light. I cannot find anything on the light as far as lumens or runtime. Does anyone know how long the cute little battery will last? Its not a regular 123a type battery, it's smaller, I've no idea how expensive they are. I will either keep the light and use it or I will keep it new and ebay it. If I do sell it I'll put the funds towards one of those LED Surefire lights. What do you think? |

Well, an E2e gets about 30min at 60 lumens with two 123As. ...I figure that gives me roughly seven minutes on my "cute" battery.

insight technologies
insight technologies rates the light at 40 lumens and a battery life of 90 minutes. On e bay the lights are selling between 80-100.00 dollars.

I have an insight on the hd gun. I'm a huge fan of lights as weapons so i have a few. The x2 isn't very bright, 40 lumens is enough to blind in the dark but I wouldn't want to bet my life on it. Attach it to a handgun and you have another story. I've always had my hd gun next to a surefire, now I don't have to. Great lil light, just wish it were brighter. I actually like it so much more than i thought I would I'm considering buying another larger xd for hd and keeping the sc in its holster at all times. The only reason being that I like having a light on it, and I can fit a bigger/brighter light on a larger frame.

I'd rather get a TLR-2 than the XML. Better light AND you have a laser to boot!

My XML had 2 dark lines across the beam and it bothered the heck out of me, I like a real smooth beam, I gave it to my friend and he likes it.
I guess it is ok, but for the price, I would never buy one again. |

I have the XML and I love it. As far as brightness goes its bright enough for good home defence, maybe not for out in the streets at night. The battery life-Well I used mine all night on the 4th of July. Id say 3hrs off and on more on than off.. It came with a Duracell battery.

like my xml, like said above it's a nice little light for home defense, and it's more flush mount in line with the barrel as compared to the tlr series. i've taken it to the range as does fairly well, BUT i like the led light output and color better, i just haven't taken the time to sell my xml and throw the cash towards a tlr

awww...
I think the m3 is a cool idea. I regard them as the little brother to my M3, X200 and TLR-1.
I don't own the XML but if I owned an XD-SC I'd consider getting one along with an IWB holster which allows for it to be attached while carrying. (Blade-Tech makes one). I don't carry my XD Service much so I don't worry about having to conceal it with a light attached. I do have some OWB holsters which are defiantly not meant for concealment which allow the XD Service + TLR/M3/X200 to be mounted. I defiantly think a hand-held light is handy in addition to a weapon mounted light. They are incredibly versatile and may be able to get you out of a situation which doesn't require the use of deadly force, along with signaling for help. (wouldn't want to use my weapon light for that, waving a gun around with a light attached doesn't necessarily signal 'rescue me!' to most people) -Chris |
