Streamlight TLR-1
I bought a TLR-1 yesterday for 82.00 from a wholesaler in Spring Hill Ks that my P.D. and I have accounts with. I thought it was a pretty good price. I like the light so far even though all I have done is play with it. It doesn't seem to fit my xd tactical quite as good as I had hoped though. It came with the tab for the glock in it and it fits but is definitley not something I would want to remove and re-fasten often. I know the best solution is to get a new holster that will accomodate the weapon and light. My P.D. would not buy the light so I had to and I am the fire arms instructor and wrote policy for range!
I believe with a little talking my chief will allow me to have the city purchase the holster for me. Unitl then I have a fobus paddle light carrier for the m-3, works o.k. I want to know if anyone has done anything with this light mount to make a better fit on an xd. The attachment for the S&W that came with it seems to work a little better than the glock one. Even with the 5" barrel it sticks out past the barrel a little....has anyone had problems with this? I havn't shot with the light attached yet. Thanks

Ive never had a problem with this light fitting on my 5" XD45, I think it fits perfect and looks great. I think its simple to take on and off and mounts very securely by just finger tighting it. I think its durable and well made. It has a nice amount of flood as well as a nice centered hot spot for close quarter home defence. I do think the whole beam could be a little more solid, it seems to have donut rings around the outer flood but that is only from the reflector not having orange peel. You cant really notice it unless your looking for it on a wall.
Other then that I think the price is very reasonable for what you get. The pros out weigh the cons by a long shot IMO. Two thumbs up in my book

I agree on the quality and function, it works great. I just wish it was a little more user friendlly on the fit.

I would expect that a full size weapon light would protrude some. Safariland is the holster you'll want if your department is cool with that.
A nice trick is to very lightly coat the lens of the light with CLP or the like. That will make cleaning the lease after a range trip (or any time you have to fire with the light mounted.) much easier! Outside of that I place the TRL-1/2 on par with the SureFire X200A/B/L ..

My TLR-1 fit perfectly on my XD 45 tactical right out of the box. It took me a couple of minutes to realize that the light doesn't slide onto the rail and after I figured that bit out it pops on and off easily. The end of the TLR-1 is flush with the barrel of the gun and looks to be a perfect fit. The bottom rear of the TLR-1 also runs flush with the underside of the trigger guard and the light simply looks like it was made to fit this gun. This light is simply fantastic on the XD 45 tactical.
