Wolff Guide rod for XD

I just want to let you guys know about this. I Just got back form the range and put 400 flawless rds thru my XD-9 with this new guide rod and spring. I got it from Midway with a 19lb spring and I was surprised that wolff actully makes a springs for the XD and their is no need for a bushing. I also noticed that there was less recoil and muzzle flip. I just thought I would share.

Nice to know the XD is starting to gain with the after market companies. Bushing or not I am DGR fan... I do like being able to get a striker spring along with replacement recoil springs, Gonna have to order one as a spare.....

I was afraid to put the extra power striker spring in because I like to do dry fire practice and don't want to break the roll pin do you think it will cause a problem?

Get some snap caps off eBay for like $15. Problem solved and a pretty inexpensive investment.

BTW, why do you want the extra power spring?

I thought that if you went to like a 22# it was needed. But not for a 18# or a 20#. Maybe Don will chime in and give us the low down. I wouldn't mind trying it though, BTW It's good practice to use snap caps

"Extra power striker springs" are if anything counter to the recoil spring. And no need for them as tens of thousands of users have no problems with light primer strikes. If the recoil spring can cock the striker and hold it in battery then all is well. But there is no need for a heavier striker spring from reported experiences. But I would guess that Wolff designed his springs to work together, so as a set with the the Wolff rod should be fine.

This is not to be confused with the Wolff springs that are used with the DGR. The Wolff springs for the DGR are borrowed from a 1911 variant, and the small spring that comes with those are not a part of the XD so just toss them.

Edited to add: go with the snap caps too, they are a good practice tool.
