Man, that is exactly what I need. Did you do it yourself or send it somewhere? And if you sent it off, where and how much did it run you if ya don't mind?

I did a grip chop on my own, and then AIFormula helped me stipple the grip and melt the slide.

Grip Chop coming up

Check mine out. Not exactly step by step instructions, but a quick write up of how I did it and pics along the way. I love it.

Stippling the grip is using a soldering iron to melt small craters or canyons into the polymer frame. This makes the frame rougher in your hand, and decreases the likelihood of any slippage.

Melting the slide is grinding down the edges to give a softer, less blocky look and feel. On other guns, it's done to eliminate snags when holstering/unholstering, but the XD is pretty snag-free already.

Melting is a term to describe the removal of sharp corners and edges. Areas around the front of the slide or the rear sight particularly benefit from melting, especially when trying to clear a jam. Sharp edges not only hurt the shooter’s hand, they are hard on clothing and holsters as well. When carefully done, melting is not readily apparent. There is no significant difference in appearance, only the gun feels smooth and friendly. If you are having your pistol refinished, melting adds one of those personal touches that befit a custom gun
