SIG Sights On XD?
I recall reading something a long time back that the critical sight dimensions for XD's are identical to those for SIG. Right or wrong?
My buddy has SIG TFO's in his gunshop and I was going to grab a set for my .40 but don't know whether I need a #6 or a #8 front sight. Can anybody set me straight on this? All help appreciated.

When I was trying to buy some night sights for a Sig 229 I realized the same thing. The night sights were listed for both the Sig and the XD. I've never tried to mount any Sig sights on my XD, but I have read that they were interchangable.

here ya go
List of SIG Sight HEIGHTS Since Sig sights fit the XD, I think this information may be of use to us: http://www.praxagora.com/lunde/SigProFAQ/VI/2.html I'll include some of the info from that website here in case praxagora ever goes down. Rear Sight Heights: #4 = 5.24mm (0.21 inches) #5 = 5.52mm (0.22 inches) #6 = 5.80mm (0.23 inches) #7 = 6.07mm (0.24 inches) #8 = 6.35mm (0.25 inches) #9 = 6.62mm (0.26 inches) #10 = 6.90mm (0.27 inches) Front Sight Heights: #5 = 6.01mm (0.235 inches) #6 = 5.88mm (0.230 inches) #7 = 5.74mm (0.225 inches) #8 = 5.60mm (0.220 inches) #9 = 5.46mm (0.215 inches) #10 = 5.32mm (0.210 inches) A higher rear sight number (taller) will raise the point of impact, but a smaller front sight number (taller) will lower the point of impact. Thanks........but the link gives me "page not found". HTTP 404. I'd appreciate another look at it. I had originally tried several searches and found nothing.

According to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Springfield_Armory_XD
"The sight mounts on XD pistols are essentially the same as sight mounts on the popular line of pistols made by SIG, meaning that there is a large variety of aftermarket sights that can be installed on an XD without modification."

The problem I have with messing with the sights heights is which one do I buy? Do I just keep experimenting until I get what I need? I think I am going to get some adjustables for my xd45 - any suggestions?

Let's rephrase the question.
What height or SIG ID number is the front sight that comes in the XD TFO set?
