511 Vest Question for the Pro's

For those of you who concealed carry in one of those 511 Tactical Vests, could you answer a few questions?

http://images.search.yahoo.com/searc...6e7c4&ei=UTF-8

How is the comfort factor?

How concealable? Does it print?

Does the weight of the XD you carry cause the vest to sag to one side? Is this noticeable?

In the picture in the link, do you think the vest blends well with casual wear such as jeans? I'm thinking that guy looks like he could blend into the club scene or a mall crowd. Thoughts?

I appreciate any comments or answers on the daily use of this vest for concealed carry. Thanks.

Very comfy, with spare mags and lots of 'goodies'

100% concealment, but it's a 5-11 vest... Anyone with knowledge of firearms/ carry options is going to know whats in it even without any printing.

4" service- No, although I prefer a slighter smaller weapon too long (like a beretta 92FS) and the length can cause some printing and comfort issues. I prefer to carry a backup in it and my primary still on the belt.

Not exactly.. althought some of my sheeple friends just thought it was a 'fishing tackle' type vest and had no idea about it.

I don't use this as a daily carry, I'd rather open carry than go around with a vest of any sort, however it provides quite valuable on family bike rides, I can carry my keys, phone, a water bottle, wallet and everything out of my pockets for the comfort factor and I don't any of the fellow sheeple bikers thinks it's anything but a new 'trend' sort of like fanny pack, lol. That and going to and from the range are all I use it for.

FWIW They are also long enough to fully cover a firearm on your belt as well.

p.s guy in the pic looks like that doof bunell.. he couldn't blend in anywhere, lol!

Checkout the Woolrich vests. They are just as nice, if not nicer. More comfortable and for less money.

Dang, where is the 'less money' part? Every search I only find ones $60 and up.

Good call OS on the Woolrich goods. I am
lucky that there is a distribution center
close by which offers items to the public
on occasion.

That said, I am also a firm 5.11 man,
any and all products. The vest is a superb
design w/many pockets, washes up well
w/no shrinkage, needs no ironing as it is
made of 100% cotton canvas. If one set
their mind to it, they could carry a firearm
on each side of the vest w/ many mags.

One thing, if you do order the vest and plan
on CCing in the vest, you will need to order
the holster that Velcros into the pocket to
retain the firearm. As said, it is long enough
to cover a CC on your person. Excellent vest.

I buy all my 5.11 gear @ LA Police Gear. Fast
and good CS.

Really. I got them from LA Police gear on sale. They are really comfy. They protect you from blood borne pathogens. I am not sure why I need that in my job but hey, they're Tacti-cool!!

I also have the 5.11 vest and it is very nice. Of the few Woolrich vests I have played with, they are pretty much the same. I wore the Large size under my regular jacket.

The Tactical vest made by these companies are just man purses. You will find yourself stuffing the pockets on the vest with all kinds of crap.

Things said while wearing a tactical vest.

"Hey look I found a spot for that 3rd tactical light!"

"Hmmm.... I wonder which pocket would be more tactically correct for my wallet??"

"What the heck is this little tactical velcro strap for?"

"Oh that is how you use that big back flap pocket!"

Woolrich has two vests, the 4903 and the 4424. The 4903 version is more Spec-Op gear, where the 4424 is an everyday vest, great for IDPA. When it comes to cost, there is usually a difference of $8 to $10 between them.

We have ordered the 4903 for guys and our press is $50 plus S&H. If you know your size and color preference, let me know and we will hook you up, if we can get them.

OS

PS: If you are looking for Tactical pants, the Woolrich Elite is much more comfortable than the 5.11 variety. I own both and never wear the 5.11 any more.

OS, do you presently have the Woolrich line?
If so, I did not see it on your product list.

Now I know where to go for Woolrich products.

To me, that vest screams "I am carrying a gun" or "I'd like to be carrying a gun."
