Pearce Grip Extension... reduced!

I modified the Pearce Grip Extension that I have for my XD40 Subcompact. The standard base plate would leave half my pinky hanging. The Pearce Grip Extension was great but it was maybe 1/8th inch too long. Not that it bothered me but I figured I could trim a little bit off it and make it just a tad easier to conceal without sacrificing functionality. These things are only $7.50 at the local Cheaper Than Dirt so I wasn't too worried about ruining one. I used a Dremel tool to cut a little off and smooth out the edges.

Pictured below are the standard Pearce Grip Extension on the left, my modified one in the center, and the standard base plate on the left.

Here's the After and Before, side by side.

Just thought I'd share...

Did you measure and cut to the measurement or did you "eyeball" the cut? This looks like something I might be interested in doing.

Yeah, I'm definitely interested in how you did this. After I did a grip chop on my XD, I got the Pearce extension...it'd be nice if I trimmed it down a little.

And did you say your "local Cheaper Than Dirt"? I didn't know they had any real stores.

Thanks for the idea. I would definitely consider doing this to my extensions. Nice job.

I just eyeballed it. Like I said, these things are $7.50 at CTD so if I messed up it wasn't a big deal. I actually have an extra Pearce Grip Extension so I hacked away.

Yes, they have one in Fort Worth, TX. The good thing is they are less than five miles from Cabela's.

Just the cutting wheel (about the size of a quarter) for the first big cut, then the sandpaper wheel to shave it down some more, and the limestone looking wheel to smooth it out.
