I have the standard dot and I preferred it over the big dot just b/c the big dot is HUGE! The standard is a nice combination of regular/conventional sites and the speed and accuracy.

I've not tried the standard dot, but the Big Dot is too large for precision shooting over about 10 yards or so.

i've got the big dot.
they glow in darkness.
they are really good for short range.
like across a bedroom.
most horrific encounters ocurr in less than 12 feet.

like others stated they are not for target shooting.
their intented purpose is rapid target acquisition.

I have the Big Dot on a Colt Defender. It is ideal for a short barreled, close range pistol. I would not want it on anything other than a belly gun.

I've had a standard dot on my HS2000 for several years. I agree with what's already been said, they're not for target shooting.

I agree with Phil, especially if you wear glasses like I do. I wanted the big dot in case I need it in the middle of the night when my glasses were still on the nightstand.

Yep! That's why my Remington 870 has a Big Dot on it
