Electronic hearing protection

Anybody have a good recommendation for some relatively (less than ~$80) inexpensive earmuffs? I'm leaning towards the Peltor Tac 6s, but am not committed by any means. I have a big ol' punkin head and I usually wear a hat when I shoot, so a set that adjusts pretty well would be needed. Thanks in advance.

The wife got me this last year for my birthday. They work great at outdoor ranges. NOT recomended for indoor ranges unless you like ringing in your ears. Indoor ranges echo to much for the mic. I prefer my walmart specials rated NRR 29 for indoor ranges. If you get this dont over tighten the screw for the battery cover.

The Peltors Tac 6s are rated at NRR 19Db, the Radians are rated at NRR 23Db. The Tac 7s are also NRR 23Db but a bit more $.

I saw these at Midsouth shooters Supply for $63.03m not sure what shipping is.

I have the Peltors and love them, only problem I have is forgetting to trun them off when finished. They also have the 'behind the head' style for the "big-o pumkin headed" folk. lol.

I have to say I bought some "expensive" electronic muffs and they were still loud!! I have heard the Dillons are nice as well as the ProEar Slimline series.

I have the peltor sporttac's and I like them. I still use foam plugs underneath them though, as they only reduce the noise like 20 db. But the electronics of them are very good. Having the amplification allows me to still hear somewhat normal, more than I could with normal muffs.

One thing I do sometimes too, is I wear my surefire earpro hearing protection underneath them. They only drop the noise level about 9 db normally... but as noise gets louder, they work better. It says they won't let noise over 85 db pass through. I've tried them inside my vehicle with the stereo blasting.. and my stereo will hit about 115 db.. it wasn't loud at all with these in. So combined with my electronic muffs.. they allow normal noise to come through so I still hear good.. but when things get loud, the muffs and the other hearing protection kick in to protect better.

I do have a pair of cheaper electronic muffs.. I can honestly say that the amplification of them, is crap compared to my peltor's. They barely amplify anything at all. it was well worth it to me to spend the $100 on the peltors, vs the $20 on the cheap ones I got.

A blonde walks into a gun range, opens her purse, pulls out two condoms, unrolls them, and puts them on over her ears. Everybody stops and stares at her, and the guy behind the counter asks her what in the world she was doing. "Well," she says, "I was told that if I didn't wear protection I would end up with hearing AIDS one day."

Peltor tactical 6 is the best combination of quality and value, in my opinion.
