Help me with fanny pack for XD9 SC
I plan on carrying using several methods, one of which will be with a fanny pack. I would like a fanny pack that is comfortable, doesn't scream "gun", fits my firearm (XD9 subcompact) well allowing rapid and complete access, and has other useful compartments. Any recommendations or opinions? Cost is not a factor.

I already have a smart carry (similar to thunderwear) and love it. But sometimes a fanny pack is better. Anyone?

...Fanny packs seem so... Maybe it's a terminology thing. Of course, who am I to coment on fanny packs? I carry a 'man purse' almost every day. Sure, it's 'tacticool' looking and all, but really it is still just a man purse.
Have you looked at the Maxpedition Jumbo Versipack? It is a 'sling pack,' sort of a shoulder bag you can hang on one shoulder or 'slung' across your chest. I have one that I use daily for bringing lunch to work. Ther is a zippered pocket that will easily accomodate a full-sized handgun. Here's a linky to it at Maxpedition's website: http://maxpedition.com/store/pc/view...=4&idproduct=6 Main website: http://maxpedition.com/store/pc/view...=4&idproduct=6 They have lots of great stuff, and the stuff is built to last. We don't have a CCW law here in WI, so I haven't even thought of carrying my gun in it. But I have thought about getting the holster accessory...

Fanny packs and vests only scream gun to gun guys! I teach concealed carry classes and every class I wear a vest and show them a fanny pack. Every class someone says "I've never heard of that" or "I've never seen one of those."
Fanny packs that look less like holsters and more like day packs are less obvious. Look at WalMart or Academy or whatever big sporting goods store is near you. Look at the NON-GUN fanny packs for hikers, bikers, etc. What do they look like? Colors, designs, etc. Then look for a gun pack that looks similar. |

I wear a fanny pack to hold my M&P 9c or now a XD40 SC when I go walking for exercise. I don't really care if it screams "GUN" to passersby or not. It fulfills the requirement for concealment and allows for quick access. As for seeming so... you know... that's why my exercise shirts have the sleeves cut off in order to display my other "guns".

I think back in the early 90's, fanny packs worked for concealed carry, because everybody was wearing them... now, how many people do you see on the street with a fanny pack?? It just draws attention.... and not that good kind of attention
