Front TFO Breakage

Well today I was at the range practicing for IDPA and after a few rounds I notice something is wrong.

The fiberoptic rod in my front sight was missing.

It figures that I was the only one at the pistol range so I was 30 feet from the targets in the dirt instead of at the 50 foot bench and concrete area.

Luckily I found it in the grass and dirt and put it in my range bag.

I just got home and decided to super glue the forward end to hopefully hold it. I couldn't decide between crazy glue or gorilla glue.

Has anyone had this happen?

Will TruGlo send me a replacement rod if this thing decide to fly off and I can't find it?

This is kind of a bummer

In short, If you send your slide to TRUGLO, they will install a replacement front sight for you at no cost. TRUGLO is a good company and will support their products if they fail during normal usage, such as in your case.

Contact the dealer from who you bought the sights from, making them aware of the failure.

If you use glue use crazy glue. Gorilla glue expands and bubbles.

Well I guess I'll see how it holds with the super glue.

I really don't want to send it out for repair but if it flies out again I may have to.

I had Scott install the sights for me at Springer Precision.

I think it may be my fault because when I first started learning to clean the pistol I may have gotten some Hoppes #9 on it so I wonder if it eventually just loosened the adhesive.

If you try to do the repair yourself, TRUGLO may not warranty the sights for you. Something to consider.

Doh

I guess it it breaks I will go with Dawson sights.

The TFOs are good self defense sights but I am kind of liking the sights on my buddies Kimber more and more.

Well considering I have been practicing every night and I have an IDPA match tomorrow shipping my XD and waiting for TruGlo is not really an option.

The crazy glue seemed to hold today without any issues.

The part of the fiber that is held in place is all the way on the front so you can't really damage the sight or lessen the brightness by accident.

So far so good
