Gear needed for USPSA?
I'm hopefully getting ready to head out to my first USPSA event next weekend, and was wondering what equipment I'll need to compete. I basically only have the XD Gear holster and mag holder, so I'm thinking I'll need 2-3 more mags and maybe another mag holder. Any suggestions on a cheap mag holder and/or anything else I may need? Also, any suggestions for a USPSA n00b?

I picked, up some nyylon Blackhawk Industried double mag pouches for like 10.00 each off of E-bay, I would have at least 3 mags, but I usually carry 5. You'll need some eye and ear protection. You may want to get a belt inthe future thaw will support your gun and mag pouches
. I was useing my pancake style for a few matched but it was slow so I have went back to the XD gear holster.

I would carry no less than 4 mags on your belt, with one in the gun; that is 5 total mags. You need a good holster that is both secure and smooth. The mag pouches should have the same traits. You also need a good, sturdy (wide) belt.
I would suggest you look at the Blade-Tech holsters and Blade-Tech injection molded pouches if you are on a budget. Good luck! OS

+1 on Blade Tech(BT) gear! The injection molded stuff is the best you can get in the cheapo department! I personally use the BT Single Mag Pouches(SMP) with teklok because they stack better on my belt. As far as full-house race gear nothing beats CR-Speed. I have a full CR-Speed rig for my Limited Frankenpara. Another company that has been getting great reviews is Comp-Tac. They are in use by some of the best in USPSA.

Don't let the lack of gear stop you from going!
You'll be OK with what you have, if you can just score one or two more mags. Even if you can't, there's a good chance that someone else there is shooting and XD and can loan you one or two.

The XD Gear may not be perfect, but it will be enough to get your through your first match. Couple extra mags, put one in gun, 2 on belt and the last 2 in your back pocket. I use either a Fobus or G-code holster, Blade Tech injection molded mag pouches and a no-name belt I bought at my local gun shop. As for suggestions for your first match. 1. Walk don't run. You had to crawl before you learned to walk, in USPSA safety comes first. Take your time, you'll see some amazingly fast shooters, they don't expect a first timer to be that fast. 2. Be safe, watch the 180, draw slow and deliberately. 3. Practice before you go, get is some dry fire if you can't get to the range, practice your draw and some mag changes. 4. Have fun! If you haven't already visit the USPSA web site and click on the "How Do I Get Started" button. http://www.uspsa.org/

Thanks for all the replies! I will probably grab some Blade Tech gear to get started. KOL: is it just me, or does pistolgear.com not carry the Single Mag Pouches you use? I only see a double and quad pouch
