A noob to CCW looking for the correct holster...

Well i purchased my xd without a thought of getting my CCW, but after reading the post on here about the guy being killed and his girlfriend being raped for 4 days i decided i should get it. Problem being My pistol is a 5" .45 . Which holster would be the best to conceal this weapon. Im a larger guy standing at 6'7 260 just for some extra info. Would the super tuck be best.

ON a side note, what type of holster system do you guys have in your vehicles? I was thinking of some type of "pocket" holster stuffed between the seats wioth the pistol in it. thanks for the info guys.

Use the site below to check your state law on CCW in a vehicle. What you describe may not be legal.

even at your size (I'm 6'2; 265)....a 5" is going to be way too hard to conceal. A jacket or coat would cover it in a pancake UNTIL you bend over, get ot of the car, etc, etc...trust me

Forget about small of the back...crossing the spinal cord/half of your body with a loaded gun everytime you holster/unholster is a bad idea, not too mention a weak position to put your arm into in order to draw....oh, and back/spinal cord injury if you slip and bust your arse.

A 5" in an IWB would be way too uncomfortable...

You need to look into getting an xd/sc....A) if you wear boots a lot, get an uncle mikes sidekick or a inside the pants holster and it will snug inside the boot well; B)IWB is pretty comfortable with an sc; C) An sc fits nicely into a cargo pocket (pants or shorts in your/my size

Hope this helps...I got my ccw a few years ago when my girlfriend (now fiancee) 'aquired' the admiration of a stalker....nice, eh?

good luck!

Some states do not consider the center console to be the same as your glove box or the same as a plain view container some states allow you to have on your passenger seat.

Be sure to ask during your class. I looked at the website I suggested above for Michigan, and it didn't seem as clear as it is for other states I've researched.

Any Michigan folks know the car carry laws for certain and can provide links?

Either the Super Tuck by Cross Breed or the C-TAC made by CompTac would be good. I think Miguel conceals his .45 Tactical in a Super Tuck.

I beg to differ with all your points. There are a few folks here that carry 5" weapons IWB without any problems. Granted, everyone is different, and everyone has a different pain tolerance. Therefore, his comfort level may not be affected by IWB carry of that weapon.
I used to carry my HK MK23 IWB before my XD45 Service. Everyone knows how big THAT gun is.

I do, however, agree with your opinion of SOB carry. Not a good option in my opinion. Not so much for the falling on your butt, but rather if you have to sit for long periods of time. I carried SOB for a while, and that is what bothered me the most.

haha because im too damn clumsy.

Also some verication on the ppistol carry in the vehicle would be appreciated. I looked aroudn on the webfor awhile before giving up. Every law i find refers to a non-ccw holder tranporating a firearm. It states clearly that a non-ccw holder can at no time possess a loaded firearm in the vehicle.

A 5"45ACP hides easily.

Enjoying my XD .45ACP Tactical. need to break in my 870, and my wife's XDSC9.

I carry my XD45 ACP Tactical, in a SuperTuck from CB. Very comfortable, easy to hide, easy to draw, and easy to reholster.

Looking for an HDR*, either an AR-180B, or Kel-Tec FBR.

HDR, Homeland Defense Rifle
