modifying a crossbreed, ideas?

Alright, I'm considering modifying my crossbreed qwikclip. The way the leather is cut just bugs me. It prevents my middle finger from getting a good hold on the gun when drawing. Here's a picture I edited to show how I think it should be cut to allow for a better, more secure draw. I don't see what would be wrong with doing this. But, what would you use to cut the leather so it's cut cleanly?

Personally, I would take it to a leather shop. You'd be amazed at how awesome those people are at that kind of work.

You can use any number of things to cut the leather - heavy duty scissors, straight edge utility knife, rotary blade knife, or similar. Some leathers are lower quality and you may have a harder time cutting it. But you should have no problem with a sharp utility knife - it's what I use all the time.

I would let Mark at CB know. He is always looking to improve his products. I too own the Quikclip and I know what you are referring to still, I find it (the Quikclip) an excellent holster and use it more than my CB SuperTucks becuase of the faster on and off.

Yes, I agree it is a great holster. I did let Mark know, and he said that the current design does hinder the speed of the draw a little bit, but he said it was designed like that for more comfort. Personally I don't feel that trimming that small amount of leather off would do anything to lessen comfort. The slide will still be kept from my body, and who cares if even 1/4" more of the grip touches my body if it's trimmed.

Well then go for it and let us know! BEFORE I attempt to hack a piece off and sever a finger. I have much respect for those who have gone before me.

Ok here's the scoop....when ordering a CB QuikClip, you have the choice of requesting what CB calls the "full grip" style." This involves a bit of trimming up top but should give you the "relief" you need for a faster presentation. According to Mark, it costs and extra $5 as it involves a little more work on his end. So you DO have an option - full grip style or standard QuikClip.

had I ordered this straight from him, I would have gotten it done. But I purchased it from a forum member. Looks like I'm just going to have to trim it myself.

You might want to contact Mark and see if he will retrofit for a nominal fee. It's still his holster and he stands by his products.
