Conversion barrel versus replacement barrel

What's the difference between the replacement barrels from BarSto/EFK, and their 9mm conversion barrels? Why wouldn't a 9mm XD replacement barrel work as a conversion barrel?

Because the OD of a 40 barrel is larger, as in the muzzle opening on the 40SW slide. You need a conversion barrel in order to go down in caliber. A normal 9mm slide is too small/skinny and won't lock up.

I knew there had to be something.

"A normal 9mm slide is too small/skinny and won't lock up." Slide? Or Barrel?

Maybe someone needs to make a bushing!

Caribou,
Now there's a great idea, that way, barrel-makers can just make replacement barrels, and one '9mm conversion bushing'.

Scott,
Maybe you and NHO can make something like that? Then for people wanting the NHO comp and your threaded barrel, yet want a 9mm conversion, won't have to wait so long.... hmmm... yummy, I'll take one setup!
