Holster Question, Kydex vs leather
Really want to purchase "the answer" for my XD, also have seen the Versa max II which is all leather..
Will I have to worry about 'holster wear' on a hard chromed gun when it comes to holstering it in kydex? Even though the answer allows the muzzle to be exposed..

Holster wear should not be a problem with hard chrome, so I'd probably go with Kydex. It's generally thinner than leather, thus providing better concealment, and doesn't absorb sweat. If you've ever seen a smelly, old, discoloured leather holster, you'll quickly understand how nice that latter aspect is.

I have holster wear on my hard chromed XD.
I got some dirt or grit or something inside my holster during a pistol class and when I got home I noticed a spot on my slide was all scratched up. It won't rust, so it's no big deal.

I apologize for the misinformation there. I was under the impression that hard chrome was, well, harder.

Oh, it's damn hard.
But after a couple hundred draws and reholsters, the dirt won.

well wouldent the same thing happen if you got dirt in your leather holster.
I think you would have to take that posibility in to account with any holster and try to ceap it as clean ans you do your hard chrome gun.

I have been wearing a leather holster for years and it doesn't stink. Plus the fact that it is three times more comfortable (at least for me). I cannot tolerate Kydex.

I've got the Answer, I had a C-TAC. The leather from the Answer wears a bit more than the kydex, but when the kydex wears, it does it good. I've got permenant scratches in my slide from the C-TAC, and a bit of front-edge slide wear from the leather Answer. The kydex on my Tucker now wears less than the leather. Pretty much, everything is gonna wear. Get what's comfortable (the answer
