Sight tool?

Just got my night sites in, but now I need to put them on and adjust them. Yes I could tap them out but I'd rather have a sight tool (got 2 XD's). I remember reading something about I think a Sig one that fits? Unfortunately now that I am looking for that thread I can't find it, so which sight tool fits the xd's? I tried the glock one that comes in the new armorers kit and it doesn't work (the pushers bind on the slide as they are too long).

Yes - it's the Sig tool - and it costs a few hundred bucks. If you're only doing this for one XD, you might want to contact ajames (he's down on the sponser links, www.xs-hd2000.com) and see about sending it (the slide and sight set) into him. He'll charge you for the service but the return shipping is on him. I recommend his work - did a really nice job on mine (Trijicons on an XD 40 service) and he got it back fast.

If you're intent on the tool, here's the link to the instructions:

http://www.sigarms.com/CustomerServi...ightPusher.pdf

Here's the link to the part itself ($192)

http://www.sigarms.com/SigStore/Show...9&productid=89

For the cost of the s/h for this tool, you can get ajames to do the job....up to you.

I would still caution you about installing the sights yourself even if you have the tool. The XD's dovetails are tight. Really tight.

Yikes... I thought they were way less: under $100. I'll probably see a local gunsmith then: I don't like any of my toys to be out of my sight for too long and I'd rather have them do it on the spot or during the day.

That's way cheaper than the Sig tool - but still about 5 times the cost of sending it off to ajames....good buy for other items, though.

Can see why you boght the tool! Hey, that's the way to be "self reliant"!

Have had some problems with the merry mailman....he never seems to lose the bills - but the other stuff....another story. Just contacted BATF on my renewal C&R FFL - they mailed it 11/5 - still not here. They're cutting a new one for me and getting it out today so I'll have it Monday.

this one seems better becuase the support for the side that pushes against the slide is flat like the XD's. The sig slide support seems angled.

Actually MGW makes them for SIG. So it is the same tool.
